Your First License
This guide will help you create your first license in License Exposed. Before you begin, make sure you have already created an organization and a product. If you haven’t done so yet, see:

What is a License?
A license in License Exposed is a resource that represents the right for an organization to use a specific product. It can be used to track usage, manage activations, and enforce license terms. Licenses can be created for different types of products and can have various attributes such as expiration dates, activation limits, and more.
Step-by-Step: Creating a New License

Navigate to Licenses
- In the main navigation menu, look for Licenses. Click on it to go to the Licenses page.

Start Creating a New License

On the Licenses page, click the Add License button.

Enter the required information for your new license:
- Organization: Select the organization for which you are creating the license.
- Product: Select the product associated with this license.
- Description: Optionally, you can add a description for the license.
Useful DescriptionA good description can help you and your team understand the purpose of the license. When entered, the first line of the description will be used as the license name. This can be useful to quickly identify the license in lists or reports. One example could be:
1QA Servers2Licenses for the QA servers in the Acme Corp organization.This would result in the license being named "QA Servers" in the License Exposed dashboard, making it easy to identify.
- Activation Limit: Set the number of activations allowed for this license, if applicable.
- Expiration Date: Optionally, set an expiration date for the license. If not set, the license will be valid indefinitely.

Click the Submit button to finish creating your license.

- You will be redirected to your new license’s overview page, where you can view details, manage activations, and more.
